  • Latest news: extension to Covid-19 grant scheme 2021

    Anna Plowden Trust/Clothworkers’ Foundation Covid-19 Grants scheme extended to current students

    Lockdowns have reduced the amount of hands-on practical work that current and recent conservation students have been able to undertake.  The Anna Plowden Trust/Clothworkers’ Foundation's Covid-19 Grants scheme has enabled many recent graduates to undertake placements to provide them with additional practical experience.

  • 100% grants for ICOM-CC Beijing

    ICOM-CC Beijing will now be held virtually in May 2021. The cost of attendance will be c£150 (depending on whether you are a member and when you book), instead of c£1,700 for the in-person event. The Anna Plowden Trust is offering 100% grants to those wishing to attend the virtual conference.

  • Latest news - support for conservation students graduating in 2020

    In response to the loss of practical training suffered by some conservation students as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Anna Plowden Trust and The Clothworkers’ Foundation are making available a limited number of grants for up to £1,000 to allow those graduating from recognised UK conservation training programmes in 2020 to gain further practical training or experience, for example by offering support towards the costs of deferred or additional short-term placements

  • Government Covid support - act now!

    The Government recently announced a £1.75bn Cultural Recovery Package. The main schemes announced so far that are relevant to collecting institutions and conservators are: Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage (£92m) Culture Recovery Grants Programme (£500m) Culture Recovery Fund: Repayable Finance (£270m) If your organisation or conservation practice is eligible and in financial difficulty due to Covid do apply to the relevant fund. The more applications that are received the more the need will be demonstrated. The deadline for applications to the different pots of funding vary but timing is tight, so you need to act quickly.

  • Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion

    At a special meeting the Trustees discussed inclusivity and diversity and what we can do to foster both. As well as reviewing our own procedures, we are working on plans to collaborate with others in order to introduce more young people to conservation as a career option. The work of conservators as guardians of cultural heritage is both a responsibility and a privilege - one that should be open to all.
