We reached an important milestone during 2022: with the award of 23 Anna Plowden scholarships in the summer, the total amount disbursed in grants and scholarships by the Trust since it was founded exceeded £1,000,000. In its early years, the number of grants and their value was relatively small, but both have grown, and the Trust now consistently supports the education and further training of conservators at a level of £80,000–90,000 per year.
The deadlines for applications in 2023 are as follows:
Anna Plowden/Clothworkers' Foundation CPD grants
January 16th
April 4th
June 5th
September 9th
Anna Plowden Scholarship grants
June 5th
The Anna Plowden Trust's latest annual report has been published and can be downloaded below. In it you can read about the Scholarships, CPD and Covid Fund grants awarded during 2021, with case studies from a selection of our grant recipients.
Lockdowns have reduced the amount of hands-on practical work that current and recent conservation students have been able to undertake. The Anna Plowden Trust/Clothworkers’ Foundation's Covid-19 Grants scheme has enabled many recent graduates to undertake placements to provide them with additional practical experience.
