Covid-19 update

Latest news: support for conservation students graduating in 2020

In response to the loss of practical training suffered by some conservation students as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Anna Plowden Trust and The Clothworkers’ Foundation are making available a limited number of grants for up to £1,000 to allow those graduating from recognised UK conservation training programmes in 2020 to gain further practical training or experience, for example by offering support towards the costs of deferred or additional short-term placements. Applications, which include brief details of the opportunity, an approximate breakdown of costs, and a letter confirming the offer of a placement or internship together with the name of the supervisor.

should be sent to [email protected] using the application form that can be downloaded below.

For existing CPD grant recipients

We are aware that as a result of the advice from governments internationally regarding travel and meetings, a number of CPD training opportunities for which we have awarded grants have been cancelled or postponed. If you received a CPD grant award from us for an event that is postponed, we will honour that grant for the rescheduled course or conference. The grant awards are not, however, transferable to another CPD opportunity.

NOTE that if the conference you were to attend is now being held virtually you can still use your grant to cover the registration etc costs. However, please keep us updated and send us details of the costs and whether you will need to use only part of the grant you were awarded.

As usual, if you are awarded a CPD grant it will be paid once we receive your report and your expenses receipts.

If you have any questions, just get in touch.

For new CPD grant applicants

We realise that many CPD courses and conferences due to be held later this year or next are uncertain to take place, but we will continue to accept CPD applications in the normal way. For successful applications, we will honour the grant if that course or conference is rescheduled or if it is to be held virtually.  Grants awarded for one CPD opportunity are not transferable to a different one.

Please apply using the standard CPD application form. The next deadline for applications is 8 June and the last deadline of the year is 14 September 2020.

If you have any questions, just get in touch.

For potential 2020–2021 Scholarship applicants

We appreciate that there will be uncertainty about the effect of the outbreak on courses in autumn 2020, but please apply as normal for Scholarships for 2020–2021 using the standard Scholarship application form. The deadline for application remains June 8 2020. If your application is successful, but you are unable to take up a place or continue your course for reasons outside your control, we will consider deferring the grant.
